So according to Elliot Wilson Charles Hamilton has been dropped from Interscope Records. I’m really not one to gloat at someone elses misgivings, but I must say karma is a bitch. Yes the kid is kind of a fag who wears pink head phones and sonic shirts. Yes he got punched by a girl. Yes he claimed he had a “spiritual” connection with J. Dilla.
But at the end of the day I ws willing to let that slide. It wouldn’t matter really if he was a dope rapper. But that’s my whole point. The kid was TERRIBLE. He couldn’t rap for shit. He just had weird production and rap talked about how emotionally fucked up he was. Growing up I got into rap because I admired the masculinity of rap artists. Then I get into the industry to look up and see this pink shirt wearing emo rapper? I was ashamed to say the least. Remeber I have been saying all this for a minute.
(It wouldn’t matter really if he was a dope raper)…I’m sure you meant to write dope rapper. As a rule, words like rap or fat or can have their final consonant doubled when adding an ending in order to keep the vowel sound the same. rapper vs raper, fatter vs fater, or canned vs caned. I once had a friend in elementary school who got the whole faculty in an uproar when he wrote that he wanted to be a “raper” when he grew up. An obvious mistake from a 4th grade public school student but I guess that shows the quality of some educators; especially in public schools.

Its an industry thing ever since Kanye the labels have been in search of the next
backpack rapper and Charles has just fell victim to an industry that does know how to push the backpack vibe as there doesn’t seem the be a tried and test formula like the gangster element has. Look how they push Lupe on everyone but the sales don’t truly reflect their efforts, but it would be an embarrassment on their part to drop him. It would be like all this time you have been telling us how great a brother is and now you drop him? So either Charles Hamilton is too early or too late but as a musician I can see what dude is trying and my advice to him would be start your own label and fuck the the majors.
