Jamaican reggae star Buju Banton a.k.a. Mark Anthony Myrie has been arrested on drug possession charges in Florida this past Thursday and is currently under US Federal custody.

The DEA has said that Banton’s arrest is due to that fact that he was involved in a conspiracy of possessing five kilos of cocaine with intent to distribute.

If convicted on these charges, Buju may recieve a federal mandatory sentence of 20 years behind bars as the minimum.

Buju Banton will be shifted to Tampa where the U.S attorney has placed charges against him related to this case.
