George W. Bush reacted harshly to Kanye’s infamous “Bush doesn’t care about black people” comment.  I mean I guess he has a right to be offended, buy Yeezy still definitley hit the nail on the head.  Bush stated to Matt Lauer:

  • “It was one of the most disgusting moments in my Presidency. He called me a racist. I didn’t appreciate it then. I don’t appreciate it now. It’s one thing to say, ‘I don’t appreciate the way he’s handled his business.’ It’s another thing to say, ‘This man’s a racist.’ I resent it, it’s not true.”

  1. I disagree with Kanye. All too often you see people heading directly for the “race card”. I am far from a bush man, I think his administration was one of the most corrupt this nagtion has ever seen but, you cant flat out call him a racist without any merrit. The facts have to be looked at, september 11, 2001 ushered in a new era for this country, we saw we were not as safe and secure as we once thought and it lead us into war. The country was crumbling from the stress of war and corruption which lead to economic stress( it was falling apart long before the bush admin) and then Katrina struck. The people were given enough notice to evacuate. I understand all too well that some people didn't have the means to leave and so they stayed , lost everything and many died needlessly. The trouble with this was the federal response expected. Yes it came late and it came poorly but , in the mighty desire to demonize and blame someone for the lack of help we overlooked that Ray Nagan should have organized a manditory evac with local resources knowing full well that pending outcome of the storm. Not only should he have used his resources to go door to door and evac these people, he should have called for help from the state of Louisiana and request National Guard to help if his resources were not capable of handeling the task at hand. In the wake of Katrina we blamed the late and poor response of Bush but, we forgot to question the fact that the mayor of New Orleans didn't do his job properly. I would also like to point out that although the majority of katrina victims were black, there were white people also and hispanic. This was not a race issue and considering the source of the statement (kanye) I can't help but, discredit the comment all together. Honestly, how can you take a man like Kanye seriously? He might have the right idea and be on the right path but, he all too frequently chooses the wrong foruum and wrong method of making his point.
