jGersonLast year, William Dennis, known to rap fans as Willie D of the legendary Geto Boys, pleaded guilty to wire fraud charges stemming from an iPhone scam. Under the title of Texas One Wireless, Willie posed as an electronic salesman that had stumbled upon a ridiculous bargain on Apple’s iPhone. He took to eBay to sell these devices, but never delivered the product, and ended up duping 35 individuals out of $194,807. Willie was sentenced to 12 months and 1 day in a federal prison and was ordered to pay back all the money swindled as restitutions. As a member of the Geto Boys, Willie recorded multiple platinum and gold selling albums. In fact all of his solo albums charted on the Billboard 200, with his solo debut, Controversy, going down in history as one of the most absurd album covers of all time.

This somehow reminds me of the plot to Master P’s cinematic masterpiece I Got The Hookup. Willie should have pled insanity and claimed “My Mind Playin’ Tricks On Me.”
