Jewelry has always been a showpiece for the rich and famous and for the most part represented how successful an individual has been. In hip-hop culture, individuals took it to the max with fat gold chains in the 80’s to diamond studded grills that are found covering rappers’ teeth.

In the new book, ‘Bling: The Hip-Hop Jewelry Book’, co-authors Reggie Ossie and Gabriel Tolliver tell the story of the development of jewelry in hip-hop through photographs of some of the best gold and platinum joints we’ve ever scene. From $100,000 gold and diamond covered pistols to jewel encrusted pimp cups, it’s all captured in the book.

The book begins in the early stages of hip-hop and its possible historical influence from Liberace and King Louis XIV. Also included are commentaries from jewelry designers and little factual tid bits and about different artists’ jewelry. The book is set to hit shelves in November.
