Right on-brand for 2 Chainz’ entertaining ways.

Aside from lethal mic skills, 2 Chainz is a highly entertaining individual. From his comedic, metaphorical-ridden bars to his successful Viceland show, Most Expensivest, 2 Chainz has created space for himself in a deafeningly crowded scene through resolve and resolutely adhering to his identity. But fans aren’t the only ones who revel in his masterfully crafted lyrics and bigger-than-life personality–his contemporaries are here for it too.

Kicking off the summer of excellent hip-hop, Tity Boi was joined by frequent collaborators and superstars Drake and Quavo on his hit track, “Bigger Than You”–a Murda Beatz-produced joint. An upbeat catchy song that celebrates personal wins while asserting that victoriousness over the competition, “Bigger Than You” is an anthem for the winners, for those who secrete confidence. And while this trio is superior sonically, they transcend music alone by applying those entertaining personalities in disparate artistic mediums.

Early yesterday, 2 Chainz lined with the “Bigger Than You” featured artists to deliver the track’s long-awaited music video. There’s one kicker, however: The three of them aren’t actually in the production.

Borrowing similarities to the 2007-released track “Us Placers”, the lone collaboration from the Child Rebel Soldiers supergroup, home to Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and Pharrell, the “Bigger Than You” video’s protagonists are adolescent incarnations of the track’s artists. Doused in middle school tropes–complete with not paying attention in class, hanging out in the library, and posting up in front of the lockers–this video shows young adult versions of 2 Chainz, Drake, Quavo, and Murda Beatz wreaking havoc on their middle school through scourging antics. But just because they are their younger selves in this video, that doesn’t mean that they aren’t bossing-up.

No matter their age, 2 Chainz, Drake, Quavo, and Murda have always had the secrets to the winning formula; they’ve always been bigger than their peers, bigger than their competition. This video is simply further evidence of that.
