For those of you that missed the Grammy Awards I got you covered, overall it was a good show, chocked full of industry stars and insiders, from industry newcomers to long time veterans. It was a crazy night but it eventually downshifted to a more somber and wistful tone in the middle when Prince and Paris Jackson, the two oldest children of the late Michael Jackson, accepted a lifetime achievement award on his behalf and a heartfelt tribute to him was performed. Here is a quick recap of events, followed by pics and winners:
8:02 Lady Gaga opens the show with Poker Face, Jumps in a pit of flames then reappears on stage covered in ashes with Elton John for a duet ( best performance of the night).
8:10 Long speech from Stephen Colbert just to promote the new apple ipad
8:13 Beyonce wins Best Song of The Year for Single Ladies. She isn’t there to accept because she is backstage getting ready for a performance. The Dream and Tricky accept for her. )
8:26 Taylor Swift wins Best Country Album for Fearless. Sorry guys no Yeezy this time
8: 40 Beyonce is singing “If I Were A Boy” followed by Alanis Morissette’s “You Outta Know”. Super sexy followed by boringly bland.
Pink almost naked swinging upside down over the audience. Same performance from the MTV Awards
8:50 Best New Artist award goes to Zach Brown Band. Who?!?
8:56 Black Eyed Peas has this crowd going crazy…well just the people in the mosh pit up front
9:30 Jamie Foxx comes out and performs “Blame It” with T-Pain. Brings out Doug E. Fresh
9:55 Taylor Swift performs and brings out Stevie Nicks (yawnfest)
9:58 Michael Jackson tribute with Usher, Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson and others. Weird because it was in 3D and basically no one had 3d glasses with them except a select few in the audience.
10:20 Rihanna, Jay-z and Kanye win for “Run This Town”. Guess who is not there? Thats right Kanye I think he might be banned forever.
10:30 Mary J is performing Bridge Over Troubled Waters.
10:49 Beyonce accepts her 6th Grammy award and thanks Jay Z this time.
10:59 Maxwell performs “Pretty Wings” then brings out Roberta Flack for “Where Is The Love”
11:13 Lil Wayne, Eminem, Drake performing a rock version of Forever with Travis Barker.
11:27 Taylor Swift wins Album of The Year. Sad day when she wins over Lady Gaga.
