      Akon has added yet another feather to his hat, with his multiple award wins at the 2007 World Music Awards. ‘Kon, whose stellar hits include “Ghetto” and “Locked Up,” bagged three accolades at the event. He won “Africa’s Best Selling Artist” and the “World’s Best-Selling Internet Artist. He also clinched the “World’s Best Selling R&B Artist” award ahead of Fergie, Beyonce, and Rihanna.

      “You are witness to seeing me receive any kind of award for music the first time in my life,” Akon commented at the ceremony.

       Akon wasn’t the only major winner of the night though. 50 Cent picked up “World’s Best Selling Hip-Hop Artist” award for Curtis. Rihanna was another big winner, taking honors for World’s Best Selling Pop Female Artist and Female Entertainer of the Year.
