mop-foundation_phixrIn this era of modern day Hip-Hop, there aren’t too many groups from yester-year that have survived the storm, but in the case of Brooklyn’s own Lil Fame and Billy Danze, AKA M.O.P. [Click for interview], they’ve managed to keep their raincoats within arms reach.

Dishing out cult classics like ‘Ante Up,the duo returns once again with their latest project, Foundation.

Guest spots are minimal, with people like Styles P, Redman, and Termanology being the only MC’s who are invited to their proverbial street corner.

The Brooklyn natives then begin their “mash out” by paying homage to their beloved Brownsville section of the borough with the rock guitar riddled ‘I’m A Brownsvillian’ (prod. by Nottz).

They proceed to further heighten the mood with ‘Blow The Horns,’ (prod. by Lil Fame).

It wouldn’t be an official M.O.P. album if DJ Premier didn’t have his influence on it, and the legendary producer makes his presence felt on ‘What I Wanna Be’ (feat. Rell).

M.O.P. then keep braggadocio momentum going with the Statik Selektah-productions of ‘Crazy’ (feat. Termanology) and ‘Forever And Always.

One of the standout tracks comes in onRude Bastard,’ where M.O.P. take a soulful voice sample and tear into like a predator would do to his prey. Styles P joins the party on the hype sounds of ‘Bang Time,’ to help assist the tandem with their patented tough talk.

M.O.P. then finishes their journey through Brooklyn with songs positive sounds of ‘Street Life,’ ‘Sharks In The Water,’ ‘Stop Pushin,’ and the title track of ‘Foundation.’

Brooklyn can boast the fact of manufacturing quality MC’s, and M.O.P. is one of those acts that can proudly place their names on that list as well.

Sticking to what they know best, and not compromising themselves to fit into today’s norm, they fill up Foundation with material that true fans of theirs can relate to—and when you’re building a foundation, that’s always a crucial part of the process…
