Now that he’s done singing for kids, Andre 3000 is ready to make grown man music again. Dre has revealed that he’s currently working on a solo album, which will be released before the next OutKast album. Apparently, Ice Cold is not the only one going for dolo this time. Partner-in-rhyme Big Boi is also packaging his second solo LP.
“Big Boi is working on a solo album right now. I’m working on a solo album as well because of all the remix work that’s been coming out,” Andre told MTV News recently. “After we do those solo albums, we’re planning on doing another Outkast album. I don’t know how long that’s gonna be; it could be two years.”
As we previously reported, Andre compiled and released a soundtrack for his highly successful Cartoon Network series, Class of 3000. The songs were flavored with voices of characters from the show, including music teacher Sunny Bridges (voiced by Andre).
No word yet on whether the new Outkast albums will be released as a joint-package, a la 2003’s Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. Fingers crossed.
