What’s Good. I got another big dose for you guys today. I feel like everyday more and more music comes out on this little thing we call the internet. The thing I like is that now the major dudes are realizing what Weezy realized awhile ago. Consistently put in work at the studio, and habitually put out music. Don’t let the fans who have 5 minute attention spans forget about you. Take Phil Blount (who I have a track from below) for example. Here is a dude on his independent hustle out of a small city, New Haven, who just sends me in a track everyday. I don’t necessarily put up a track every day, but I must say I’m impressed with the fact the dude shows up everyday with something. If you work you ass off, and always create quality music, there is a decent chance you can be successful in this business. The internet is really leveling the playing ground. You don’t need a manager or a major label to put you on. You just need a computer, some nice production, some nicer lyrics, and a passion and drive to make shit happen. Everyone is bugging out about how hip-hop is dead. Hip-Hop is dead? I don’t think it’s ever been more alive. It’s just become so big its damn near un-definable. It was just easy to define what hip-hop was in the late 90’s, where as now Hip-Hop is much like rock in that there are tons of sub-genres. I don’t know where I’m going with this really, besides to say hip-hop hasn’t changed as far as the shit that actually matters. Hip-hop is still the rawest, realest, and most honest genre of music period. If you want to finger bang your girlfriend, and drink a spritzer I’m sure you can find yourself a John Mayer CD. But for those of us that deal with the realities of life rather then the formalities there will always be some loud and obnoxious rap music coming out of our speakers. Wow, after this little diatribe my comments on tracks will be brief.

-Two Wayne tracks today. I thought both of them were pretty unimpressive, but it’s Weezy so I have to give them to you.

-This track from Boaz “Crazy World” is easily my favorite track of the day. I have nothing to say, but listen to the fucking thing and try and not co-sign it.

-This VIC track “Wobble” is actually one of those songs that all the rap nerds would say is a contributing factor to the “death” of hip-hop, but I think it’s pretty awesome.

-This Joe Budden track “Tough & Go” is supposedly a single off of his sophomore LP Padded Room that is dropping 10-28-08 on Amalgam Digital. To be honest it sounds a little too much like “Pump It Up”, his first break out single for me. However, Budden is definitely one of the rappers who understands the importance of the internet to his career. Dude is also signed to a digital label which in my opinion is the only way I see labels existing in the new future. CD’s are going to be dead within three years, at least in hip-hop.

-Cassie is hot, St. Laz is an underground dude from Brooklyn who you should be familiar with, I actually like a Twista song for once, and now that I think about it if your going to finger bang your girlfriend do it do this Mario track instead of a John Mayer CD.

As always be sure to check out the audio section for the rest of the songs that came out today. I’m accepting music from anyone that wants to send it in. Put the name of the song and artist(s) in the title of the email and any additional info in the body of the email. Just send one or maybe two tracks. It needs to be in an mp3 format and please only send me good stuff. You can send it to featuredaudio@crackspace.net. Looking forward to hearing what you got.
