Happy St. Paddy’s day.  I must say that being from the Boston area, and growing up with booze bag Irish Catholics, I’ve come to appreciate the holiday.  The whole point of the day is to get drunk.  I can’t be mad at that.  Let’s hop into it.  featuredaudio@ihiphop.com.  Mp3 format only.

.
-I like this track “Lark On My Go-Kart” from Asher Roth, which is apparently the intro to his album Asleep In The Bread Aisle which drops on my birthday 4/20.  I think a lot of traditional hip-hop fans are going to hate on Asher, because he doesn’t match up with what a lot of people expect a rapper to be.  The irony is that is the whole reason I like him.  Plus he has those suburban white kid references that only a suburban white kid such as myself can understand.

.
-Two joints from Fabolous.  When I saw that one of the joints was co-produce by Alchemist and Khalil I nearly shat my pants with excitement.  Unfortunately the song wasn’t as cool as I hoped it would be, not like it’s whack or anything.

.
-So apparently B.o.B. is changing his name to Bobby Ray.  Seems a little unnecessary, but whatever.  I was a huge B.o.B fan when he first started making some noise in the game, but I already feel bored with him.  That’s the problem with the internet,  an artist can get played out in like 6 months.

.
-Say fucking word to new Juvie.  I don’t know what it is about Juvenile, but I’ve always been a really big fan.  Of the million projects Weezy is supposed to drop, the only one I really care about is the Hot Boyz album.   I remember  when 400 Degreez dropped, and it completely changed my perspective on what hip-hop even was.  Not a lot of albums do that.  Big shouts to Juvie.

.
-Finally a song off of Jim Jone‘s new album I like, and it’s a diss track of all things.  Well sort of.  Jim just kind of alludes to his situation between Cam, and finally addresses Max B.  It’s really ironic to me that the same reason Max is mad at Jim is the same reason Jim is mad at Cam.  Music business 101 guys, you get used until you get yourself into a position to use other people.  Cam used Jim to help himself get rich.  Then Jim got enough clout in the game where he used Max to get rich.  This has been happening as long as people have been selling music.  The longer i’ve been in the music business the more I realize that music is sometimes the least important part.  Just put on the radio.

asher roth has been compared many times to em. but like he said, he likes the “psycopath” side. i think he really is striving to be less of the angry rapper side. but i hope he doesn’t go to the vanilla ice side. that would be pathetic.
