Barry Bonds has threatened to ignore the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame, including his own induction ceremony, if the Cooperstown-based museum proceeds with its plan to display an his asterisk-marked home run ball.
“I won’t go. I won’t be part of it,” Bonds said in his TV interview with MSNBC’s Jim Gray. “You can call me, but I won’t be there.”
For the uninitiated, Bonds is referring to the ball with which he landed No.756. Hip-hop fashion mogul Marc Ecko purchased the ball for 750,000 through an auction and then conducted an online poll asking the public whether the ball should be violated with an asterisk and sent to Cooperstown.
“You cannot give people the freedom, the right to alter history, you can’t do it,” Bonds said.
