Chamillionaire has lashed out at major labels for their greedy approach to promoting records. Cham’s last album, Ultimate Victory, hardly dented SoundScan, posting a mere 79,000 units in its first week. But the Houston rapper says he’s determined to stay on the grind.
“You spend a whole year putting money on a project, and the first week indicates whether you’re gonna keep on going with that? That sounds stupid to me,” said Chamillionaire via a web video.
After asking if anyone knew the first week numbers of hip-hop greats like Tupac and Scarface, Cham urged fans and A&Rs to hop off the First Week bandwagon.
DAMN SOUND LIKE HE MAD CAUSE HE FLOPPED HARD HOPE THAT SHIT DONT HAPPEN TO ME BUT U CAN TELL U FLOPPED WHEN THEY SAY SHIT LIKE Cham’s last album, Ultimate Victory, hardly dented SoundScan, posting a mere 79,000 units in its first week.
