On Sunday night Dave Chappelle made a surprise appearance at the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles for guest set. What the audience didn’t know was that they were in for a long and wild ride. Chappelle set a new record at the club performing for six hours and seven minutes straight with no breaks.

According to Variety Magazine he covered everything from President Bush’s intelligence to Comedy Central’s decision to hype Carlos Mencia to Michael Richards blow up last year and using the N-word. Because of the Richards incident the Laugh Factory has imposed a fine to any comedian who uses the word during a set. Chappelle went off on the new rule, used the N-word freely and was slapped with a $2,200 fine after his set was done at 4:43 in the morning.

Chappelle broke Dane Cook’s record of a three hour and 50 minute set which he did just a few days earlier. Before Cook, Richard Pryor held the longest set record at two hours and 41 minutes which he set in 1980.
