Da Brat Arrested After a Fight at JD’s Nightclub

Another day, another hip-hop artist in trouble with the law.
This time, it’s Da Brat (born Shawntae Harris) who found herself in steamy waters for aggravated assault. The 33 year-old rapper allegedly smashed a rum bottle in the face of a club waitress, following an altercation.
According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the incident stemmed from what started as a shoving match between Da Brat and the waitress. “After the pushing, the waitress walked away, and a short time later, that’s when Harris picked up a bottle and hit the waitress in the face with it,” said a police spokeswoman.
The badly battered waitress was rushed to a local hospital. Da Brat is currently being held at the DeKalb County jail.
The incident occurred at Atlanta’s Studio 72 nightclub, which is owned by Da Brat’s former mentor and producer Jermaine Dupri.
Da Brat has not released an album since 2003’s Limelite, Luv, & Nightclubz, but she has made appearances on various TV shows, including VH1’s The Surreal Life and Celebrity Fit Club.
