So anybody who claims to be a fan of hip-hop has clearly heard the leak of Dr. Dre’s song “Under Pressure” ft Jay-Z. I, along with many others, immediately got my rap-nerd on and blasted this song for sounding like dookie. Maybe we shouldn’t have hated so quickly.
Dre responded to the leak today (Thursday, June 17th) by saying :
“I want to set the record straight for everybody who’s been waiting to hear my music. The song that’s on the internet is an incomplete song that I’m still working on. When it’s ready, you’ll be hearing it from me.”
- Dr. Dre
This is understandable. Dre is notorious for being a perfectionist (The Chronic, 2001), so it’s not surprising that this song is unfinished considering how poorly it sounded just from master mix perspective. I also wouldn’t put it past Dre to leak a song to see how people responded to a beat he’s not sure about using.
Personally I want this album, and in particular this song to KNOCK, especially with Hov on the track. I would be supremely disappointed if this beat was the final choice for the song. I guess all we can do is eagerly wait and hope for more leaks to dissect, until Detox actually drops…..assuming it ever does.
