A bunch of Drake related tid bits have hit the internets, So I figured I would consolidate them into one post. After “Over” dropped yesterday, the below fo0tage and pictures came out of Drizzy on the private jet to Jamaica to shoot his next video off Thank Me Later which drops June 15th.
Drizzy recently caught up with XXL on the risk he took by being a rapper who also sings, and how that will apply to Thank Me Later.
- Yeah, ’cause I started the mixtape off with an R&B song about women that were lost in the world. It was a risk. I mean, we knew it meant something to us, but we also sat there, like, “Man, are people going to accept this? A rapper that’s singing?” And I’m not just doing melodies, I’m singing. Same with this album-I’m singing. And I even went further. I explored music on So Far Gone. I was taking other people’s music and revamping it. I can’t do that on an album. I love that genre of music. It sparks something in me when I use soundscapes or write like that. So now I’ve crafted my own interpretations on that that apply to my life, and I’m just wondering, Are those going to work now? ‘Cause it’s just me. It’s my shit. So it’s a lot of unknowns on this album.
Finally there was a leak from former G-Unit artist Olivia featuring Drake off her upcoming Under The Radar mixtape. I thought it was a little odd that some washed up R&B songstress scored a feature from arguably the hottest guy in urban music these days. Well my suspicion was warranted because Drake released the following statement. You can check the song in question below that.
- “I support artist collaborations and sampling music that inspires you but I don’t support taking unauthorized recordings and marketing them as features. I’ve never worked with Olivia and I apologize to any fan who was duped into thinking that Control was a collaboration of mine.“
