00opk3-9205-mid_phixr2On a day that saw the greatest player EVER touch a basketball be inducted into the Basketball Hall Of Fame, Michael Jordan; the day was also witnessed for his Alma Mater the University of North Carolina win its second national title in five years under coach Roy Williams.

The Tar Heels practically steam-rolled over everyone in the tournament this year, winning each game by a double-digit margin, and the Spartans of Michigan State were no exception.

Not even legendary alumni Magic Johnson who was sitting in the stands and who spoke to the team earlier on in the week could help out the school that catapulted him to greatness.

In the end, the kids who donned baby blue walked away with the trophy with the scoreboard reading 89-72.

Props to President Obama though, because he picked the Heels to win right from the start. Hopefully that’s not the only thing he’ll touch that turns to gold.

For all the schools that fell short of their goal, remember one of the poignant sayings of all time; “There’s always next year.”
