It was an eventful weekend for hip hop at Indio, California’s annual Coachella Music & Arts Festival as an abundance of rappers graced the stage throughout the weekend. Fans were treated to performances by the likes of Wiz Khalifa, Lauryn Hill, Nas & Damian Marley, Cee Lo Green, and Odd Future who surprised the crowd by bringing out Pharrell during “Inside Of The Clouds”. For OFWGKTA frontman Tyler The Creator, sharing the stage with Pharrell was “a dream come true” saying via twitter “That Was F*cking F*cking Great! F*cking P! I’ve Waited For That Moment For 9 Years. Still Can’t Believe It.” Tyler tweeted throughout all of the festivities including during Kanye West‘s set on Sunday Night praising ‘Ye for the quality of his live performances. Kanye closed the show in typical Kanye fashion, not just rapping but providing fans with a whole visual experience full of over the top theatrics. While the majority of the other artists chose to enter from center stage, Kanye rose from the middle of the crowd to kick off his set as the stage was occupied by his troupe of ballerinas featured in his video for “Runaway”. Mr. West’s set was said to be one of the highlights of the festival as he preformed emotional renditions of “Power”, “Say You Will”, “Hey Mamma” “All Of The Lights” and “Jesus Walks”. But perhaps the most memorable moment of the weekend for hip hop heads occurred during Lil B‘s show on Saturday as The Based God announced that the title of his next album will be called “Im Gay“. You can let that one resonate with you while watching footage from the festival listed below.
