Hip-Hoppers Play Second Fiddle to MTV Award Winners

      There were no hip-hop artists that won any MTV Music Video awards last night, but there were sure a lot in the videos that won. Video of the Year went to Rihanna’s “Umbrella,” which features Jay-Z, Male Artist of the Year went to Justin Timberlake, whose hits “My Love” and others featured T.I. and were produced by Timbaland and Female Artist of the Year Fergie’s hits included appearances from Ludacris and will.i.am.

      The show featured performances from Rihanna, Common, Kanye West, T.I., 50 Cent, Lil Wayne with Fallout Boy, and several others. Probably the most memorable moment was 50 Cent and Kanye West presenting the Most Shattering Collaboration award just days before they go head-to-head in record stores. Here’s the full list of winners:

Video of the year: "Umbrella," Rihanna featuring Jay-Z
Best editing: Ken Mowe for Gnarls Barkley’s "Smiley Faces"
Best director: Samuel Bayer for Justin Timberlake’s "What Goes Around … Comes Around"
Best choreography: Marty Kudelka for Justin Timberlake’s "Let Me Talk to You/My Love"

  4. What do people expect from the industry. It aint just non hip-hop artists, but white artists with hip-hop “credentials”. I mean Fergie best female over Beyonce. Lets get real. Hip-Hop is the music industry in terms of music, but its still the white chief that controls everything. Thats why I’m sick o niggas rappin about nothin and fattenin the pockets of some cracker in a suit. When we gonna wake up?

  5. Thats funny cause if you look at it the white people that won all used black people to get there. Its sad cause Fergie cant touch B. These awards were simply made to give Justin Timberfake all the awards. Are you for real. Kanye didnt win one award. NIGGA PLEASE. Then Timberland up here running around givin this cracker props 4 doin black music. Way to go Tim Ho.
