Most hip-hop fans might are probably unfamiliar with the name, Donald Pullen. But more than likely they’re familiar with the name of Rockie Fresh, and it just so happens they are one in the same.
With the Chicago native building his mixtape catalog up with projects such as Rockie’s Modern Life, The Otherside, The Otherside Redux, and most recently, Driving 88 it won’t be long until the 21-year-old starts to get the proper recognition he deserves.
In a game where tons of artists tend to play follow the leader, Rockie drives to the tune of his own drum, (literally) behind the wheel of his DeLorean straight out of Back To The Future. We had a chance to catch up with the newcomer while he was in New York, and chopped it up with him in Madison Square Park about the Chicago music scene, his view on the XXL Freshman list, and how he stays true to himself through his music.
