Run DMC joined the ranks of music’s most respected this weekend by being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in a star studded ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio this past weekend. DMC and Rev Run were joined on stage by the mother of the late Jam Master Jay, Connie Mizell-Perry, who was shot and killed in a Queens studio in 2002. On the award, JMJ’s Mom said on the prestigious award “I’m not surprised to be here tonight. Anything you ask for you get and the boys deserve it.”
The trio were introduced by Eminem who indicated that the Queens collective had been responsible for him emerging from Marshall Mathers into Eminem. Watching the Walk this Way rappers become the second Hip-Hop act to enter the Hall of Fame were Lyor Cohen and Russell Simmons. Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were inducted in 2007.
