It’s been barely three weeks since the Dogg Pound crew left Cash Money Records, citing financial irresponsibility. Bad news has rocked the Cash Money/Young Money camp again, following the sudden exit of yet another top new signee, Curren$y. The New Orleans rapper Curren$y announced through his Myspace blog that he’s no longer a part of the Lil Wayne-headed Young Money label. In a recent blog entry titled "Sorry Y’all I tried," Curren$y said:
"I officially declare my independence…I AM NOT YOUNG MONEY….regardless of what u may hear in the streets, read on the web or hear on the radio I AM NOT YOUNG MONEY….If that loses me friends or fans that’s just something I will live with but I will get my just due in this rap game before its all said and done."
Although Curren$y didn’t specify on the reason behind his decision to leave the label, he was quick to add that there’s no rift between him and Lil Wayne: "Don’t look for any beef records from me because that ain’t my thing," he said "Just look for me at the top…straight up."
