The rumors of Jay-Z bringing his Roc Nation label are being split by credible sources into two different directions. One story is pushing Jay towards Columbia/Epic for a distribution deal; ironically making him  label mates with his wife, Beyonce.  He would join forces with a good friend of his and co-founder of Def Jam Rick Rubin. The other is pulling him to Warner Music Group (WMG).  A source from the NY Daily News is reporting that there is also a strong chance that Jigga may reunite with former Def Jam bosses Lyor Cohen and Kevin Lyles at WMG to form the Carter Music Group.  It also appears that his Blueprint 3 album will not be a part of this deal, instead it will be distributed by Live Nation.  I guess they definitely need their $150 million dollar’s worth of work out of him.  The truth will eventually be revealed.  Either way, Jay-Z is coing out on top.

Here is a quote from the NY Daily News article:

A well-placed industry source tells us that Jay – who recently left Def Jam as a recording artist (he served as its president from 2004-2007) – has been taking top-secret meetings with his old pals and former managers Lyor Cohen and Kevin Liles. Topics of the hush-hush conversations have included giving Jay his own record label at WMG, tentatively to be called the Carter Music Group.

“Jay knows Lyor and Kevin from back when they all worked together at Def Jam, and he obviously wants to work something out with his friends,” says our insider. “He wants to get the dream team back together. There have been a few whiffs of a reunion in the past, but only now – and very privately – is something finally starting to happen.”
