Even though America voted Jennifer Hudson out of American Idol back in 2004, she knew she had the steez to move forward with a singing career. You can add acting to that career as well as Hudson is actually making an Oscar push for her performance as Effie in the upcoming flick, Dreamgirls.

Then further proving everyone made a mistake in voting her off of American Idol, Hudson signed with Arista Records and will begin recording her debut album early next year.

"Jennifer is a vocal wonder, a tremendously gifted artist," said Clive Davis, Arista founder and BMG U.S. Chairman. "Her extraordinary voice gives her a signature sound and distinguishes her from every singer on the horizon today. Jennifer is a very exciting new addition to the Arista family."

"Clive Davis is a legend and I feel more than honored to be associated with him," Hudson added. "Because of his vision and hands on approach, Arista already feels like home. I can’t wait for us all to make beautiful music together."

There’s no word on who Hudson will be working with but “Dreamgirls”, which also stars Beyonce, Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy will open on Christmas Day.
