With anticipation building for his upcoming album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Kanye West decided to have a little fun on USTREAM and allow users to call in as he commanded attention on a conference call with Def Jam. After a brief introduction from Lifestyle Director Steve Carless, Kanye took questions regarding his new album, stating that working with RZA in Hawaii was a life changing experience. He claimed that RZA recognized that there are a lot of similarities between Kanye and the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard. After mentioning some features on his album (CyHi Da Prynce, RZA, Fergie, Big Sean), Yeezy said that there are going to be some surprises that fans won’t see coming even with leaked tracks and track listings available.
Kanye also said that he’s definitely working with Q-Tip and Madlib on Watch The Throne, his collaboration album with Jay-Z due out next year. He promoted his album really well and consistently showed off a version of the album cover. Answering a fan’s question, Kanye said there’s a good chance of J Cole ending up on G.O.O.D. Friday track, before stating that “people respect the game to the point that they’re afraid to improve on it” but he wants to leave his mark on Hip Hop as an innovator. When asked about why he made the short film, Runaway, Kanye oddly said, “I was really inspired by the color that I wanted to put on the screen…and explosions.” CyHi and Big Sean also joined in the festivities at Kanye’s pad, while Pusha joined via phone to promote My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and talk about how they linked up with G.O.O.D. Music. This was pretty interesting, so if you’re a Yeezy fan, you can check out the conference call in its entirety below.
