Uzi flexes with his new ice.

Certain accents have become customary on rappers’ quick and furious ascents. Whether it be a neck full of cuban links or a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes, these material possessions signify everything that these artists have been striving to achieve: money, success, and power. For Lil Uzi Vert, along with the majority of the hip-hop community, relishes in bragging musically about his Patek watch, which he’s done in spades on his new track, aptly titled, “New Patek”.

Recently, Uzi announced his album successor to the critically and fan acclaimed 2017 Luv Is Rage 2, home to cuts like “444+222” and “XO TOUR Llif3”, Eternal Atake. While there is certainly plenty of mystery surrounding this album–like the release date, which tracks will make the list, who will be featured, etc.–it’s become widely-accepted that “New Patek” will appear on the final tracklist.

Produced by Dolan Beats, “New Patek” hinges upon Uzi’s formulaic success pattern that’s afforded him the means of purchases a myriad of pateks: manipulated vocals that bend around the booming trap production; attractive subject matter packaged in a catchy hook; a hybrid rapping – singing aesthetic. It doesn’t necessarily push the creative envelope that Uzi has pried open in the past, but it certainly is a sound addition to his extensive catalogue and piques interest for the forthcoming Eternal Atake.
