The war on hip-hop has mostly stayed on the content of rappers’ lyrics, but now it’s moving towards how hip-hop heads are wearing their clothes. According to a CNN news story a small
"Are they employed? Do they have a high school diploma? It’s a wonderful way to redirect at that point," Trenton Councilwoman Annette Lartigue, who is drafting a law to outlaw saggy pants, told CNN. "The message is clear: We don’t want to see your backside."
The style of sagging pants was believed to start in prison. Back in the day prisoners were not given belts to hold their prison-issued pants up for fear of suicide or use as a weapon. The style came out the prisons and into the hip-hop world in the 80’s and has been here ever since. Hopefully they’ll fine those plumbers that expose their backsides too.
