Meek has been killing it.

Don’t call it a comeback—he’s been here for years. On a roll, showing zero signs of slowing, Meek continues his wining streak with his newest track, “Contagious” featuring Migos.

Meek Mill suffered a tumultuous 2015 at the hands of Drake’s lethal diss record, “Back to Back”, and the ill fortune bled into the following year when Meek found himself at the center of another beef with Game. On the surface, it looked like potentially irreparable damage was inflicted on Meek. But little did everyone know, he was just plotting, strategizing, finding the right moment to strike. It’s 2017—he’s struck.

Starting in 2016 with his mixtape DC4, Meek has gradually been rebuilding his image with a concoction of powerful lyrics, a palpable angst, and a collection of fire collaborations. On his well-received 2017 album, Wins and Losses, names like Chris Brown, Ty Dolls $ign, Future, Lil Uzi Vert, and more populate the tracklist. His presence has also been requested by top-tier talent, most recently with his contribution to DJ Carnage and Young Thug’s “Homie”. “Contagious” featuring Migos is just further evidence that the Philly spitter has officially reclaimed the spotlight, and is make sure that we don’t ever forget him.

The KeY Wane-produced track features an ominous melody throughout that is accented by pounding drums and eery organ notes. Plausibly hinting at his triumphant resurrection, Meek talks about how his consistent stream of Ws are starting to breed upon themselves, translating into different life verticals—his victories are becoming contagious. Migos each contribute to the song’s narrative with their own flavor, supplementing and reinforcing the song’s meaning.
