As Brooklyn continues its rich tradition of harnessing the talent of true MC’s, another one is set on making his mark from the historical borough. Originally from Pittsburg, PA, but now making the Empire State his place of rest, lyricist Chen Lo first carved a niche for himself by helping to create commercials for MTV’s Sucka Free program, which lead to the video for his first single, ‘Brooklyn’ being played on the show itself along with BET’s 106 & Park.

Not one to stop there, he’s also featured on Jean Grae’s Evil Jeanius album produced by Blue Sky/Black Death—and with 2009 already underway, he releases The Inkwell Mixtape. Filled with 98% of original music, The Inkwell is well worth checking out, and the people of Brooklyn would have it no other way.
