Nelly has taken a temporary leave of absence from the rap game to pursue a limited run as a radio host in Missouri.

According to reports, the Midwest-based rapper will host a radio show from his hometown.

St. Louis residents can tune in to hear their hometown boy weekdays between 3-7 p.m. on Hot 104.1 (WHHL-FM). Nelly becomes the radio station’s newest on-air personality for the afternoon drive. But don’t think Nelly has given up his day job. He’s temporarily filling in for radio host Staci Static, who is on maternity leave. I mean its a good look a lot of people who aren’t in the rap game anymore (Nick Cannon) has moved to radio hosting or broadcasting and from what I heard Nelly`s new singles aren’t really doing that well.

The nations program director has confirmed the reports.

“It made perfect sense for the hometown boy to do it for the short term,” said Mickey Johnson, WHHL’s program director. “I was looking for someone local and someone who had that star power. Someone not to replace Staci but (someone) who could continue to drive the ratings and make it interesting.” The arrangement had been in the works for about three weeks, Johnson said, adding that Static was included in the decision.
