Are we finally getting closer to a new Kanye album?

Music fans, rejoice–Kanye West is officially dropping new music. After numerous rumors surrounding his whereabouts and album collaborators, we’ve finally received some concrete evidence of TLOP’s much anticipated follow-up. Late yesterday, a demo by the name of “Southside Serenade” surfaced on the heels of Teyana Taylor’s “Polo Ye return” statement.

The demo comes in at two-minutes and 10-seconds-long, and is a dedication to Kanye’s late mother, Donda. Starting with, “Sitting on the runway, time on my hands. Thinking of you again. As I replay our conversations…Like a mirror looking back at me. Said you’re the Only One,” Kanye is clearly still missing his dearly-departed mother, and is channeling his emotions in one of the most cathartic and beautiful ways he knows how: by making music.

In typical Kanye fashion, the beat interpolates hymns and gospel singing to give “Southside Serenade” a spiritual texture, possibly suggesting another gospel-themed album. However, all speculation at this point is just that: pure speculation.

While we anxiously await Kanye’s official return, check out the “Southside Serenade” demo below:
