Hard to believe that it is one year to the day since Bun B lost his home boy, Pimp C. Pimp C born Chad Butler, one part of the duo UGK was found dead in a Los Angeles hotel room after accidentally overdosing on prescription medication. Hailing from Port Arthur where he grew up with Bun B, UGK were one of the pioneering groups from Texas. They released their first album Too Hard to Swallow on Jive back in 1992 but to many the duo’s first commercial success was the 2000 track Big Pimpin where they featured along side Brooklyn’s very own Prodigal son, Jay Z. Pimp C was unfortunately incarcerated for eight years back in 2001 but served only four years and was released around this time three years ago. UGK then went on to release their self titled album in 2007 which boasted the Outkast collabo International Players Anthem that secured the duo a BET and an Ozone award. Pimp C’s funeral was attended by a who is who in southern Hip-Hop as well as various other artists and associates paying their last respects to the Underground King.
