Every hit track needs a hit video.
A$AP Mob member, Playboi Carti, has enjoyed a meteoric 2017 thus far. He put out the blazing hit “Magnolia”, recruited Lil Uzi for his track “wokeuplikethis*”, and lent his voice and amazing ad libs to the recent Cozy Tapes Vol. 2: Too Cozy. Carti flexes throughout his debut album, Magnolia, but one song stood out in particular: “New Choppa” featuring A$AP Rocky.
An ominous snare-heavy beat that reaches deafening decibels midway through matches the unique flavors provided by Carti and Rocky. While it’s Carti’s song, Rocky shines by spitting a lethal 16. Now, the two have teamed up to release the track’s official video.
The video starts out with the two sitting on a couch discussing their favorite guns in a severely slowed speech akin to Rocky’s “Purple Swag”. Running through the various guns—Glock 9, Dracos, etc—while chiefing personal blunts, Carti answers the question emphatically with, “new choppas.” Suddenly, we’re taken to a gun infomercial starring the two A$AP Mob members.
Montages of blown up teddy bears, exploded Sprite bottles, a row of gorgeous women, and enough guns to start WWIII pan across the screen. When that deafening beat drops, Carti and Rocky liberally spray their choppas in the air, at targets, at watermelons—basically everywhere. In a word, this video goes hard.
