Ever heard the expression, “Blondes have more fun”? Well if you’re familiar with that one, how about; “Blondes are most likely to back you down in the paint and shoot over you.”
That might be a new one, but it certainly applies to Dallas blonde bombshell Amiya Renee.
The model/massage therapist doesn’t keep her love for sports a secret, nor does she keep her tomboy mentality hidden either.
Also having the title of personal trainer under her belt, she could be a little difficult to keep up with, but if you play your cards right maybe she’ll squeeze you into her schedule for a quick one-on-one game in park… Make it take it…
iHipHop.com: Where are you originally from?
Amiya: I’m originally from San Angelo, Texas, which is a small town, but I live in Dallas, Texas now…
iHipHop.com: Was it fun growing up there?
Amiya: Where I’m from is a very country town, is there’s not a lot going on… [Laughing] Dallas is cool, but where I’m from is a little country…
iHipHop.com: What’s your nationality?
Amiya: I’m just white… But I have Czech, English, German, and Cherokee in my background…
iHipHop.com: Were you always into fashion as a child?
Amiya: Yeah I was always into it, plus I’m the baby… I have a couple of brothers, and sisters, and I have a big family… I’m a brat; I’m the baby… [Laughs]
iHipHop.com: [Laughs]… What made you want to get into modeling?
Amiya: Honestly, I never really saw myself as a model, but people were asking me to do it…
I’ve only been modeling for close to two years, and I’m really a tomboy… [Laughing] I just had a lot of people asking me to take pictures, and it kind of just went from there…
iHipHop.com: So how has the experience been for you so far?
Amiya: It’s been good, and I’ve had people trying to sign me… But I really haven’t had anyone that I really wanted to sign with, so I’ve been on my own basically… I’ve done Maxim [Magazine], music videos, a bunch of promotions, and stuff like that…
I’ve done a little bit of everything, like print work, and I’ve been going to castings… I want to try and get into acting and things like that as well… I need my own TV show, that’s what I need… [Laughing]
iHipHop.com: [Laughs]… What is one of the things you don’t like about the business?
Amiya: OH MY GOODNESS!!! Definitely people hitting on me… I’m also a massage therapist, so they get it twisted too… I’m really about business, I’m professional, and I’m really big on respect; so I’m not going to do something that’s going to disrespect myself…
Just people hitting on me is the biggest problem that I have, and I always try to keep it business. They want to work with me, and then think that they can do other things, and that’s not happening… [Laughing]
iHipHop.com: [Laughs]… What would you say is your biggest asset as a model?
Amiya: I think I have a different look… My eyes are one of the biggest things, because they change color—they go from blue, to green, to grey depending on what I’m wearing… And of course I have a big booty; for a white girl…
iHipHop.com: [Laughs]… Have you found the industry to be really competitive?
Amiya: I feel the competitiveness, but I’m really sure of myself…
I’m the kind of person that doesn’t take things to heart, because some many people are looking for so many things; and I might not be what they’re looking for at the time… I have a commercial look, and I don’t try to do things outside of what I can do…
I know I’m not a runway model, and I know that about myself so, I’m not going to go out and try for runway stuff… [Laughs] I just try to pick and choose the things that I know I’ll be good at… But if I don’t get it, I’m not tripping because I know I’ll find something else… I’m just patiently waiting for the right gig…
iHipHop.com: Was there any part of the modeling industry that took some getting used to?
Amiya: I’m not really shy, but getting in front of the camera took a little getting used to… Besides that, I’m really bubbly and charismatic… My personality fits whomever I’m with… I can be with businessmen, professional athletes, or I can be around classy girls, or gangster girls…
That’s what I pride myself on, the ability to be around anyone, and I can mold myself into that… I’m pretty comfortable; I don’t let too many things get to me…
iHipHop.com: Earlier you talked about doing music videos and prints ads; is there one that you like more than the other?
Amiya: Right now I’m more interested in print work, and stuff like that… I feel like I take ridiculous pictures, and that I can do all kinds of things… I’m open to doing all kinds of things, and I’m getting a little older so I want to create my own empire…
I have a clothing line that I’m trying to come out with, and have promotional models as well…
I can easily hire 50 girls and have them under my wing as my girls… I have a business mind, and I want to create a whole lot of stuff because I know I won’t be modeling forever… I’m just trying to make paper… [Laughing]
iHipHop.com: [Laughing]… Aren’t we all! What do you like to do in your spare time?
Amiya: I like to workout, and I like to play hoops… I like to play ball, and whip on the boys…
I’m still really a tomboy, so I do things like watch ESPN, and I like to watch basketball, and football… I have too many things I like to do—I’m versatile… [Laughing]
iHipHop.com: So you’re a baller huh? What’s your game? Driving to the cup, or taking jumpers?
Amiya: Shoot! I got a shot, and I can hit it from anywhere… I can post your ass up, but I can also take your ass to the hoop… I got a killer shot from everywhere, so it don’t matter… [Laughs]
iHipHop.com: [Laughs]… Do you find it difficult staying in shape?
Amiya: Yeah, and that’s only because I have so many other things going on…
I had a few medical problems, so that’s been like an issue; and of course the booty workout. It took me a while to get my booty; I had to work for that…
I would say that I’ve been slacking for the past couple of months, but I’m getting back into it… I know exactly what to do; it’s all about finding the time… [Laughs]
iHipHop.com: [Laughs]… What’s the one food you eat that you shouldn’t?
Amiya: OH MY GOODNESS!!! That’s the one thing that I’m bad at, I’m thick for a reason… I love Mexican food, and that’s one of my downfalls…
I have my certification, and I know all about nutrition, but I eat badly and I love sweets… I’m a sweets fanatic, and I eat candy everyday all day…
My nickname is the “Energizer Snow Bunny” because I’m always on the go, and I’m always busy…
iHipHop.com: Are you single or taken?
Amiya: I’m VERY single, and I haven’t been in a relationship in like 4-5 years now…
iHipHop.com: Is that by choice?
Amiya: It’s by choice, and that’s because I’m trying to get myself right… Plus I just don’t want to deal with the bullsh*t…
I’m a real person, and I’ve been working around athletes since I was 18-years-old, and I know that guys can be liars…
There’s no one that can handle me really, because I got a great head on my shoulders, I know exactly what I want… After I take on the world, I can settle down and do that…
iHipHop.com: What’s the biggest mistake a guy can make when he’s approaching you?
Amiya: I really hate it when people try and throw their money in my face… A lot people think I’m either a stripper or an escort, and I’ve never done either of that… I never had anyone pay my bills, and everything I got, I’ve bought it on my own…
So when someone is trying to throw money at me, I’m like, “I don’t even know you!” [Laughs] I’d rather someone just come up to me and say hi, then just come up to me and act crazy…
iHipHop.com: Do some men find your looks to be intimidating?
Amiya: I get that sh*t all the time! A lot of people think that I’m a b*tch, but I’m cool as hell… I just don’t talk to everyone when I’m in the club… When people get to know me, they’re like, “Damn, I thought you would be stuck up!”
Then I tell them I’m far from that, and I tell them that they have to get to know me… But I do always here that crap… [Laughs]
iHipHop.com: [Laughs]… What can he do to impress you?
Amiya: I definitely like a dude that takes care of his body… He doesn’t have to be super big or muscular, but I like the athlete type of dude that loves to workout, because I might want to take their ass on the court and whip up on them for a minute…
I also like a guy that knows how to dress, that turns me on too, and for them to have a certain type of swag…
