Las Vegas, Nevada has long been considered as the infamous “Sin City.” It can either be the place where dreams of striking it rich are made, or the biggest the melting pot to make up excuses to tell your wife how you the gambled away their retirement money.
Any way you look it, traveling out to the desert is always going to be a memorable experience—especially if you happen to run into 20-year-old Mya Lynn Moore.
A native of the East Coast, (Washington D.C. to be more precise) she defected out West taking her measurements of 36-25-36 all the way with her, while gracing photo lenses with her multi-cultural background.
Most likely she’ll leave you on the heartbreak-end of the Las Vegas spectrum, because she’s already involved.
But if you if treat this young beauty to taco from Jimboy’s, the fan of Lil Wayne and T.I. might just sit down and have a quick chat with you before walking off into the Nevada’s sunset…
iHipHop.com: You live in Las Vegas now, but where are you originally from?
Mya: I’m originally from [Washington] D.C.
iHipHop.com: Why made you make the jump from [Washington] D.C. to [Las] Vegas?
Mya: Actually I moved here when I was in the 12th grade, and that was back in 2006. I first lived in California, because that’s where my mother was living.
But I moved to [Las] Vegas because I’m also an exotic dancer too, so the crowds are a lot better.
I should’ve picked L.A. for modeling, but at the time [Las] Vegas just seemed like a good place to move for me…
iHipHop.com: What’s your nationality?
Mya: I’m African-American, Caucasian, Indian, and Puerto Rican…
iHipHop.com: [Laughs]… Sounds like you have a lot going on there…
Mya: Yeah… [Laughing]…
iHipHop.com: Were you always into fashion as a child?
Mya: I was always into fashion, even growing up as a child… I might have done tomboy activities, but I always wore dresses, and I want to be in heels. I was like that ever since I was a baby…
iHipHop.com: What made you want to get into modeling?
Mya: Actually my role model is Tyra Banks, and I’ve seen how successful she’s become, and how she became a household name. She’s done everything with her career, and she’s been a good role model for me… She made me feel like I could go out there and do it too…
iHipHop.com: So how has the experience been for you so far?
Mya: So far it’s been good, I love the modeling industry; so I have really no complaints there. Not at all…
iHipHop.com: So there isn’t at least one thing that you don’t like about the business?
Mya: I can’t think of anything off the top of my head that I don’t like about the industry—but actually I did a gig before that I didn’t get paid for. Some of my friends also had to deal with some of that flakiness, but other than that I love it…
iHipHop.com: What would you say is your biggest asset as a model?
Mya: For me I think it would probably be my diversity… That’s because I fit into every culture, and that pretty much works for me; also my personality too because I’m different and I’m not like anyone else…
iHipHop.com: Have you found the industry to be really competitive?
Mya: Yes, of course… I want to be very versatile, so I want to do print, runway, and some music videos. There are so many attractive women, and everybody looks so different, so it’s very competitive and you definitely have to put your best foot forward to get recognized…
iHipHop.com: Was there any part of the modeling industry that took some getting used to?
Mya: Not really, my very first photo shoot was pretty easy actually… I thought it was going to be tough going into it, but it was natural because that’s how I pictured it. I always wanted to be in front of the camera…
iHipHop.com: What do you like to do in your spare time?
Mya: I love to go to the clubs, that’s my favorite thing to do; I love to go out… A lot of times during the week I work, and I have to get a lot of stuff done for my household, so on the weekends go out and enjoy myself. I like to go to the clubs and maybe watch a few movies and mellow out…
iHipHop.com: So even though you’re a dancer, you still like to go to the club on your days off? You don’t get weary of the club scene?
Mya: You would think that, but I love it because I work all the time and I never really get the chance to enjoy myself. So when I get the chance to do that, it just makes it more exciting for me…
iHipHop.com: Are you more of a Hip-Hop girl, or R&B girl?
Mya: I would say Hip-Hop more than anything…
iHipHop.com: Who are you feeling right now? Who would you spend your lunch money on in order to get their album?
Mya: Oh my God… [Laughs]… Lil Wayne or T.I. truthfully…
iHipHop.com: Do you find it difficult staying in shape?
Mya: It’s not difficult, but sometimes I have to watch what I eat… I like to eat a lot of fast food, but I have a fast metabolism, so I can eat anything. I can walk, jog, or do a couple of sit-ups and I’m fine… [Laughs]
iHipHop.com: [Laughs]… What’s the one food that you eat that you shouldn’t?
Mya: OH MY GOD! There’s a restaurant here on the West Coast called Jimboy’s [Tacos], and it’s only in like Sacramento, Reno, and I think in another spot in Northern California too. Their tacos are just so thick and meaty, and I love them! [Laughing]
iHipHop.com: [Laugh]… Are you single or taken?
Mya: Oh my gosh, right now I’m taken… [Laughs]
iHipHop.com: So with you being taken, your boyfriend doesn’t mind you being an exotic dancer and a model?
Mya: No, he’s not the jealous type… I think it intrigues him because he likes the fact that other men get to view what he has… So I don’t think he’s jealous, because he never complained about it… [Laughs]
iHipHop.com: [Laughs]… What’s the biggest mistake a guy can make when he’s approaching you?
Mya: Guys nowadays have this thing where they call you out based out what you’re wearing… “Hey girl in the pink pants.” I hate that, and I think that is just so immature…
I like a man with some class… If he looks horrible, and his grammar is bad then automatically I have no time for conversation.
It just depends, there’s a lot of ways you can go wrong when talking to me… [Laughs]
iHipHop.com: [Laughs]… Do some men find your looks to be intimidating?
Mya: Yeah, of course… Actually that happens in the clubs, like when guys are sending their friends over, and they make comments. I don’t try and be intimidating, and I tell guys to be who they are. They’ll say stuff like, “I wanted to say something, but I didn’t know if you’d be interested.”
The best thing to do is to have self-confidence, and I really wouldn’t want to waste my time talking to someone who was afraid to approach me anyways…
