The name Jim Jonsin may not be familiar to most hip-hop heads, but when they hear songs from Trick Daddy, Danity Kane, or Pretty Ricky, they can definitely identify his sound. Producer extraordinaire Jonsin was awarded BMI Songwriter of the Year at the organization’s sixth Annual Urban Awards ceremony in New York, as well as being named to its Top Urban Producers list. Three of his songs made the Most Played list: Trick Daddy’s “Let’s Go,” along with “Grind With Me” and “Your Body,” both by Pretty Ricky.

“That was amazing, just crazy,” Jonsin said about being awarded for his work. “For a guy who rarely got any checks from all the writing and producing I’ve done, it’s pretty huge for me. It means a great deal.”

Jonsin is now a staff producer for Atlantic Records and also has his own label, Rebel Rock Entertainment under the Atlantic umbrella. He’s now developing his recently signed artist 21 Reese and is producing tracks for Trey Songz, B5, Mario Vazqujez, Lil Wayne, Trillville, Baby Bash, Ruben Studdard, J-Shin, Tampa Tony and T-Pain.
