Word on the street is that Redman is on the verge of extricating himself from Def Jam’s shackles. According to some unconfirmed reports, Red is unhappy with the way Def Jam has handled the promotion behind his new album, Red Gone Wild.

On a related note, Red is hard at work on Muddy Waters 2 , which he says would be strictly for his core fans and only hoped to produce 50,000 units of the album domestically. Other upcoming Redman projects include: How High 2 (the movie), Blackout 2 (with Method Man), a new Def Squad album, and a Gillahouse compilation.

Red Gone Wild: Thee Album is due out on March 27, 2007.

  1. ITS CRAZY BUT TE FACT IS EVEN THE BIG LABELS ARE LETTING THE ARTIST DO MORE SELF PROMOTION. THE PRO IS LESS MONEY COMES OUTTA THE ARTIST POCKET ON THE BACK END, LESS RISK FOR TEH LABEL/ THE CON IS THE ARTIST ARENT USING THEIR STAR POWER AND HUSTLING TO BE SEEN, GET HEARD, LIKE THEY NOT HUNGRY NO MORE. LETS FACE IT THEY GOT COMFORTABLE AND THE WAY PROJECTS ARE BEING HANDLED HAVE CHANGED AND THEY HAVE NOT YET ADAPTED. NO COLLABOS ON AN RNB JOINT/ NO COLLABOS ON A NEW ARTIST JOINT/ NO CLUB BANGERS/ THE UNDERGROUND MIXTAPE PROMO TOOL…THE DAMM FORMULA MAN!!!

  2. Jay came up promoting himself out of the trunk, hustlin. I love Red but these artist now think they too big to do that. You dont hear Jeezy complainin cause he knows the deal. By the way…Jay is just ONE OF MNAY Presidents at Def Jam
