MTV’s curiously successful mtvU channel, their 24-hour college network, announced plans for its ‘Campus Invasion Music Festival.’ Taking place next month in three different cities, the festival is designed to create awareness about the genocide in Darfur and raise funds to end the fighting.

Fabolous, Rick Ross, Rich Boy and D.G. Yola have signed up to headline the Festival in Atlanta on April 27 at Hi Fi Buys Amphitheatre. On April 29, K-os, Gym Class Heroes, Kidz in the Hall and others will headline the Philadelphia show at Penn’s Landing.

"College students, music and activism have long been a formula for social change and Campus Invasion ’07 will harness this combination to continue fighting the genocide raging in Darfur," said Stephen Friedman, GM, mtvU. "We’re heartened to have so many respected, groundbreaking artists join us for these concerts of amazing live music, awareness and action."

There will also be a show in Austin, Texas on April 22 at the Backyard featuring bands The Rapture, The Shins and others. For more info check out MTVU.
