RICK RUBIN BEING AXED FROM SONY?

Like this dude would even care less if he was being fired/axed/removed or repositioned. There are currently reports circulating that Rick Rubin, co-founder of Def Jam Records is being stripped of his position at Sony Columbia. Rick was anointed the Co-President of the label last year yet it is being alleged that he is doing nothing but getting up the noses of the powers that be. The reason for this? Well he has been working on albums for artists from other labels such as Metallica (Atlantic) and U2 (Universal). And the top bosses are not happy with this.

Now the thing with Rick Rubin is that he is a music purist, he does what he does because music is his life, not some comfy office in Los Angeles or a serious 401K, this dude is from the old school where it is about the music. If he wants to produce for Jay Z he will, if he wants to produce for Shakira he will, if he wants to work with System of a Down…he will. Because that is what he does, he makes music. Perhaps the powers that be at these labels need to think about the people they put in the positions as for dudes like Rubin, it is about the music before the business. BIG UP RICK.
