Another one bites the dust. Hot on the heels of Vibe Magazine’s epic meltdown, URB (one of the better indie/alternative music magazines, that has given hip-hop it’s just due) has announced that it is “temporarily suspending” their printed edition. yeah right. FAIL! They now join the ranks of music publications that saw their end in the last year, such as Blender & Vibe, and a bunch of other ones. Remember that poll from my last Industry News Blog Post? Well, URB is saying that they’re going digital only until 2010, when they can figure things out, and realize that print media is on the way out. It’s too bad, but this is just another fatality in a long and strung-out disaster for traditional media that will continue to play out in the coming years.
