Skillz has done a lot in his career besides shortening his name from Mad Skillz. Aside from ghostwriting for superstars like Diddy, Skilz has become infamous amongst mainstream and underground fans for his year end “Rap Up” songs. Despite all this, he’s still heavily slept on and his albums are often overlooked.
Feeling left out of the BET Cyphers, Skillz shot his own rendition over the same breakbeat from the Awards Show. Complete with the BET logo and an ad for Being Terry Kennedy, Skillz killed his verse at the expense of Kanye, Ice Cube, and Chris Brown, and clowned on the Stephen Hill/Waka Flocka incident. Needless to say, this video caught the attention of BET’s Executive Vice President, Stephen Hill, who took to Twitter to guarantee Skillz a slot in the 2011 Cypher. Swagger jackers beware; this won’t work for everyone!
