For last couple of months, underground rapper phenom MF Doom has been the subject of rumors ranging from sending imposters to do his shows, lip-synching his shows and the latest one of him missing a show because he was in the hospital. In a post on their website, MF Doom’s record label, Stones Throw Records squashed everything.
“Every day for the past month we’ve been hit up by people wanting explanations, statements, clarifications, and declarations about MF DOOM,” the post said. “Is he lip synching? (No. Listen to the videos on Youtube.) Is he an impostor? (No, but he did lose some pounds.) Is he in the hospital? (No, he’s in his studio … or if not there, you can find him in the pub with the grub stain.) Reached earlier this morning at his home in Georgia, an alive and well MF DOOM issued this statement: ‘What up? I’m dead.’”
The post also says that Doom was recently recording tracks with Guilty Simpson and over some leftover Dilla beats which will appear on the upcoming NBA 2K8 soundtrack, “B-Ball Zombie War,” hitting shelves on October 2.
