G-Unit has had some turmoil in recent years – after losing Game and Young Buck and picking up/dropping at least 5 acts. Either way, G-Unit clothing was a smash a few years back, and they’re coming right back after a hiatus. 50 partnered back up with fashion mogul Mark Ecko and will be releasing the new collection in Spring ’09. Look for the new line to also be integrated in 50′s multiple releases in the coming months – a video game, an LP, a tour and even new movies.

50′s life may have just got somewhat easier when it comes to dealing with his baby Momma Shaniqua Tompkins. As of yesterday there is now an order of protection out against Curtis to keep away from the mother of his child and any dropping off and picking up of Marquise the estranged couples ten year old son has to be done at a police station. It might be a little awkward but it means that he won’t be hearing her mouth at any given opportunity. But still Tompkins is running her mouth saying that every other weekend which 50 has been granted when it comes to the visitation of his son is just too much and not what she her son wants.
In 2006, rapper The Game released his second LP – The Doctor’s Advocate. Two years, one four-month trip to prison and countless struggles with estranged supporters Dr. Dre and 50 Cent later, The Game has dropped LAX. Hopping on the ubiquitous popular rapper manifesto, Game said this album would be his last, because he supposedly has nothing left to prove. However, the album – a 19-track feature-heavy compilation – is definitely not a high note for Game to leave off on. The album starts with a prayer from rap’s new preacher DMX, and just as quickly as you can press next, Game brings you the somber and boring “LAX Files.” A few skippable tracks later, Lil’ Wayne lends a T-Wayne singing feature to his West Coast cohort on “My Life.” Ultimately, this album is marred by poor production and boring lyricism by Game, save for a few tracks like “Dope Boys,” “Cali Sunshine” and “Angel.” On “Angel,” Game scores Kanye production and a Common feature for a cliché yet catchy ode to their leading lady – hip-hop. In previous albums, listeners looked forward to an entire album of hearing The Game’s witty lyricism and knocking production picks – no matter how vulgar or hard it got – because they knew what to expect. But on LAX, The Game enlists so many features (there are only three solo songs!) that any message he was trying to get across gets far too diluted and commercialized. If this truly is his last album – he better not expect to be mentioned in the same breath as Pac, Biggie and Jay-Z…or even Wheezy baby.
Chamillionare has been gaining his relevance back recently after dropping a new mixtape – Mixtape Messiah 4. The tape is hot and is available for download below. Meanwhile, Chamillionare told HipHopDX in an interview that he respects 50 Cent and Lil’ Wayne as essential artists in the mixtape movement. In the interview, he spoke on 50 Cent’s golden times: “Back in the day, when 50 first came out, he had some real dope mixtapes. Now, it’s more the commercial thing where people say you’re singing a hook or whatever. Back then, he was just jackin’ peoples’ beats and puttin’ them real catchy melodies on a tight beat, and just puttin’ out tight stuff.“ He also feels that Wayne’s hard work is unmatched in the current climate: “He out-working everybody on the mixtape circuit. When I talk to the underground stores out here in the mixtape world, they tell me that Wayne‘s runnin’ it. He’s the most active.” There’s no denying Wheezy and 50′s contributions to rap, and the mixtape game more specifically. Check out Cham’s new mixtape and let us know if you think he deserves to be mentioned with the elite. Chamillionare – Mixtape Messiah 4
If you aren’t familiar with the infamous Lola Love then you must be surfing the net with your eyes closed as this chick is everywhere. Anyhow turns out Miss Love is going to be appearing a long side G Unit’s boss man 50 Cent in his new movie Before I Self-Destruct. The movie is said to directed and produced by 50 who made his acting debut in Get Rich or Die Trying back in 2005 which was directed by Jim Sheridan.
LL has been releasing some tracks from his upcoming final album Exit 13 lately, and the latest installment is “Feel My Heart Beat” featuring 50 Cent. The track is pretty bouncy and sound like it could be a single, and 50 lends yet another quality hook to his cohort. The idea of the song is LL hitting on a girl, apparently. I have to admit, I hate when rappers have wives and children and are still rapping about this shit, but so be it. He’s not the first, and he won’t be the last. So download the track below and let us know what you guys think. perspective‘s two cents: Twenty bucks says these guys spent 20 minutes in front of the mirror admiring each others pecs, and then made out just to see what it would feel like. …surprise surprise LAX. The tape called LAX Touchdown from the three uniteers is supposed to drop August 26th, just to stir up a little more controversy between the Queens collective and Game. But just when is this Banks tape going to drop, we have been hearing music from it now for what seems like months but still no tape…and now this. Word on the street…again is that Banks is looking to get off G Unit but word from the camp is that that is nothing but a rumor and Banks is staying loyal.
Looks like 50 is giving investigators the run around when it comes to be questioned about the fire that broke out at his Dix Hills, Long Island home in May. The house which was at the center of an ongoing feud between the rapper and Shaniqua Tompkins, his former girlfriend and mother of his ten year old son Marquise burned to the ground and the cause of the fire has yet to be determined. It is standard procedure for fire officials and the arson team to meet with the owner of the said property in every instance regarding a fire. However as of yet 50 has not made any attempt to meet with officials regarding this matter. Legal counsel for Tompkins are implying that this is 50 Cent trying to hinder the progression of the case. Response has yet to be made from Curtis’s camp.

The 50 Cent the rap world has come to know and love (or hate) has been one who’s rather obnoxious, vengeful and consistently willing to beef with anyone who comes his way. But, in a recent interview with MTV News, 50 talked about his mentor Dr. Dre, their recording process, and why the fu** Dre just won’t put out Detox. In the interview, 50 explained his time in the lab with Dre - “When I walk in the studio, I record the first [beat] that comes on regardless if I think it’s a hit record or not. We get in work mode, get comfortable and go through the material that’s in the computer. Dre always has hit records. Sometimes, artists that need producers, they need someone to create a direction for them musically. I need the jewels he’s just got laying around. He don’t gotta tell me what to do with it.”Further, when 50 was asked about Detox, he explained, “Hopefully he get it done and put it out. I’m waiting for the Detox.” Yet another artist drops his two cents, and gives patient fans no timeline or hope. If this album ever drops, I think it’s cause for a national holiday…perhaps Dre Day?Look out for 50′s Before I Self-Destruct and Dr. Dre’s Detox to drop before 2009.
Freeway, arguably the only Rocafella soldier who can actually rap (besides Jay, of course), is back. If you recall, Free’s debut album, Philadelphia Freeway, was absolutely amazing. It had guest spots from Jay, Beanie Sigel, Nate Dogg and was produced almost in its entirety by Kanye West and Just Blaze. Free was definitely the first to set himself apart from the other Roc rhymers, and to this day his voice and flow is unlike most artists we’ve heard. For his second album, Free gained a cosign from 50 Cent and his album Free at Last featured guests like Jay, 50, Busta Rhymes and Scarface. Now, less than a year after Free at Last, free is bumping some new sh*t. His new track, aptly titled “Bumping My New Shit.” To check out Free on his A-game, click here to download the track. Check out a preview for the track here.
As rumors circulated the web about Jimmy Iovine being in next in the unemployment line, turns out all the stories about Curtis ‘Interscope’ Jackson being part of the problem were ….WRONG. As of now Mr Iovine still holds the Chairman job over at Interscope/Geffen/A&M and it doesn’t look like he is going anywhere soon.
