Today’s installment of your fashion fill is a focus on a clothing/footwear company called Shmack. Shmack is primarily known as a skateboarder’s company, but they’ve recently crossed over into urban wear (much like Supra). If you had to classify their attire, it would be under the hipster-hop umbrella, because most items run relatively tight and in colorful styles. Shmack is for those who are comfortable with their style and are daring enough to go to the left, even if they might look a little ridiculous.

Shmack’s footwear ranges from skate shoes to casual, and all variations are pretty funky. Check out Shmack’s website for more info on the company and images below for some of their products.

Fashion Forward: Artful Dodger

In today’s fashion focus, I wanted to mention Artful Dodger. Artful Dodger has been picking up steam as a premier urban clothing line in recent months and has been featured in GIANT and Complex Magazines. The line features t-shirts and intricately designed hoodies with flourescent colorways; and custom denim that can be worn by someone who’s not a Franchize Boy. Ultimately, Artful Dodger is for sophisticated men who aren’t afraid to experiment and have a sense of style that doesn’t fall back on being too urban.

According to their website, Artful Dodger sees itself as “of singular mind and purpose: to cause mischief and have fun doing it. Every piece of Artful Dodger clothing is meticulously planned and expertly executed to achieve maximum individual enjoyment and facilitate ease of havoc-wrecking.”

Atlanta power couple Jermaine Dupri and Janet Jackson may have taken a loss when they closed the doors on Cafe Durpi and its staff last week but Janet launched her underwear line this week, Pleasure Principle to keep the couple in the spotlight. Made from the finest laces and silks the lingerie should be hitting US stores this year, the Japanese and European markets next.

Rumors are circulating that Ciara, the Princess of Crunk is slated to take on the role of model for notorious lingerie giants Victoria’s Secret. Ciara is no stranger to the catwalk or the camera having already been the face of Rocawear. The Atlanta native signed a modelling contract to the Wilhelmina Agency in June of this year.The Wilhelmina Agency boasts a  roster which has  included Ashley Yao (Chinese Vogue), Iman, Beyonce and Ciara’s ex Bow Wow and from what insiders at the agency which was founded in1967 are saying, Ciara looks to have quite a modelling career ahead of her. cici

Nelly is getting ready to make some major moves, both with and without his clothes. His energy drink PIMP juice which caused excessive controversy when it came onto the market in 2003 is ready to break out onto shelves in both France and Sweden. Already seen as a prominent refreshment in the French NBA, Pimp Juice will also be an official sponsor for teh Swedish MTV awards later this year.

Nelly is also the new cover boy for Sean John underwear which Diddy is said to be overjoyed about having Nelly onboard to make him more money. This is what he had to say about the St Louis front man. “I have known Nelly for many years and I really admire his work. To me, Nelly is the quintessential definition of the Sean John man. He has the attitude, the swagger, and most of all the physique that our customers can both aspire and relate to. Fashion Rocks 2008 Heats Up

The 5th-Annual Fashion Rocks concert seems to be trying to outshine last year’s already-extravagant show. With announced performers like Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Chris Brown, Fergie, Justin Timberlake, Lil’ Wayne, Keith Urban, Mariah Carey, Rihanna and Kid Rock, the concert truly and “uniquely celebrates the intersection of two of the most sexy cultural paradigms: fashion and music,” according to Richard Beckman, president of Conde Nast Media Group, which produces the event. The Fashion Rocks concert will be held at Radio City Music Hall on September 5th, and all proceeds will go to the Stand Up to Cancer Campaign. With more performers to be announced and an already high standard set after last year, there’s quite a bit of buzz surrounding the event.
