Jay Electronica. For those in the know he might be the most anticipated rap artist in a very long time. I’ve scoured the internet and collected every Jay Man track I could get my hands on, since I first heard him roughly 3 years ago on a Premier mixtape. I did NOT have this joint right here. I’ve wanted to do a post on this dude for a while now anyways so what better time than now after I found this gem? There are many rumblings around the blog world and the industry in general that Jay and Just Blaze are doing a project together. Just posted a 16 second snippet of one of the songs from the project on his blog. I got my fingers crossed for this one. This song right here is nuts. Jay is nuts. If you are not familiar with Jay Electronica then fix that. -Cinematic“Retro Electro”- Jay ElectronicaTo Preview the track go here.
This is a hot trio, I have to admit. I really like the idea of TI rapping over a Just Blaze beat, and I assume he can kill it like most other rappers Justin works with. And Rihanna is always good on collabs – it seems that she never learned how to make a record not a hit. Download below and let us know what you think of TI‘s latest track off Paper Trail. Very positive feel to this track. perspective‘s two cents: I fixed the link, and threw in a preview link as well.. Just Blaze is sampling some techno song and it’s driving me crazy that I can’t figure out which one. It’s kind of intersting how T.I.’s style has evolved from Trap Muzik (his best album hands down) to Paper Trail. He’s just getting his grown man on as he should. TI feat. Freeway, arguably the only Rocafella soldier who can actually rap (besides Jay, of course), is back. If you recall, Free’s debut album, Philadelphia Freeway, was absolutely amazing. It had guest spots from Jay, Beanie Sigel, Nate Dogg and was produced almost in its entirety by Kanye West and Just Blaze. Free was definitely the first to set himself apart from the other Roc rhymers, and to this day his voice and flow is unlike most artists we’ve heard. For his second album, Free gained a cosign from 50 Cent and his album Free at Last featured guests like Jay, 50, Busta Rhymes and Scarface. Now, less than a year after Free at Last, free is bumping some new sh*t. His new track, aptly titled “Bumping My New Shit.” To check out Free on his A-game, click here to download the track. Justin Blaze, as Jay-Z so comically calls him, has been producing the hottest rappers in hip-hop for years now. After getting major recognition for producing hits on Jay’s Blueprint, Just Blaze moved on to work with everyone from The Game and DMX and TI to Rhymefest and Talib Kweli. His unique soul samples and fast-tempo, drum-heavy tracks keep any rapper hitting up Just for some beats. Just was also the exclusive producer on Saigon’s debut album, which has been pushed back for about 4 years now. Just has also been rumored to be working with new Interscope artist Wale and Erykah Badu’s protege Jay Electronica. In the meantime, Just decided to go old-school and bring his fans a 90′s hip-hop mixtape entitled 90′s Flava. The 51-track tape features everyone from AZ and Method Man to Das EFX, Brand Nubian and Pete Rock. It’s the first time in a long time I’ve seen Just hosting a mixtape, and listening to his selection of the best 90′s hits should be pretty educational. Download the mixtape here, and let us know what you think.
Famed mixtape DJ Mick Boogie has recently hosted a slew of tapes with artists like Little Brother, Talib Kweli, Young Chris and Busta Rhymes. Amidst his DJ duties, Boogie took a break to head to the Nike headquarters and was apparently inspired by the visit. Boogie and 6th Sense joined forces to create the 9-track “Just Do It: A Mixtape Ode to Nike,” which features freestyles over Just Blaze’s “Team USA” track and Wale’s Though the tape is rather short, the duo created and released it in just two days (pretty good turnaround time). Check out “Just Do It” right here and let us know what you think.
