Producer 88-Keys is prepping his album The Death of Adam, and after a long, long wait it is finally set to drop. I heard the first drop from the album on Kanye’s Can’t Tell Me Nothing Mixtape, entitled “Stay Up.” About 6 weeks back, 88 then dropped his very own mixtape in preparation for the album’s release, entitled Adam’s Case Files, which featured Kid Cudi, Grafh, Serius Jones, and Tanya Morgan, among others. His tracks are really soul-inspired and very different from the hip-hop we’ve heard. By making his lyrics comical and utilizing some of the best artists in hip-hop right now (Kanye, Bilal, Redman, Kid Cudi) 88 is bringing the world some quality, quality music. And, with a executive producer co-sign from Kanye, this album seems destined to be a hit. Check out snippets from the album here, and look for the release in October.

Rapper Mos Def is known for a lot of things – acting, music, a ridiculous live show and an eclectic sense of style. The latter has helped him launch his own clothing line, called Too Black Guys. For the Fall 2008 collection, Mos has thrown in some sweats, denim, crew sweaters and really cool hoodies. Check out the photos below. And by the way, really creative presentation of the line, I like the use of the mirrors. Mos is getting down with modeling too, I suppose.
Tribe Called Quest frontman Q-Tip has released another track from his long-awaited debut The Renaissance. The name of the track is “Getting Up.” Download below, and enjoy. Q-Tip – “Gettin Up”

Hey world, this is iHipHop writer/blogger Dan, coming to you straight from Russia. I am away for a few weeks, and have not contributed in a few days if you haven’t noticed, but I am reporting at 3:30 AM local time to bring you news on The Blueprint 3! So, at Kanye’s last GITD stop in NYC, he brought out Jay-Z to perform a track entitled “Jockin’ Jay-Z,” before which he announced Blueprint 3 was on the way. Now, DJ Mick Boogie has come out and told the world that The Blueprint 3 is entirely produced by Kanye, not Timbaland! Turns out, Kanye was out in Hawaii and he produced the entire album, and it’s set to drop in the first week of December. We all know Jigga is a 4th quarter man, and if you’re like me and you couldn’t wait till ’09 for another album, rejoice! A few months back, I told told co-workers that it seemed like Jay couldn’t wait another year to drop another album, and gladly I was right. Kanye has produced hits like “Heart of the City,” “Encore” and “This Can’t be Life” for Jay, so this album should be absolutely retarded, in a good way. Check out the video link here to hear a snippet of “Jockin Jay-Z.” Thought the track is not typical Kanye soul-inspired, it’s fu*king hard and hot. News like this makes me excited about hip-hop and music in general. “They should’ve told that bloke from Oasis I’m a rockstar!” – God MC, J-Hova
Chicago-bred MC Kid Sister is making quite a splash recently, after being featured in GIANT Magazine, Vibe Magazine and on the cover of URB. Kid Sis got her first claim to fame after she made a track with Kanye West, entitled “Pro Nails,” which was then featured on Kanye’s “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” Mixtape. She’s since released “Control” and several remixes to both tracks. Her album is due out in October, and she’s teaming up with some great artists and producers for her debut. With friends and family in high places (her cousin is J2K of Flosstradamus and her boyfriend is DJ A-Trak), Kid Sis is set to take over the female hip-hop genre. Word is, she was recently in my hometown, Miami, recording with our very own Pharrell Williams. This would definitely be a good look for both sides, so stay tuned to hear what they come up with. For now, download Kid Sister’s “Pro Nails” below. Kid Sister – “Pro Nails”
It looks like anyone who went to a show this weekend was mos def getting their monies worth. Kanye killed it at the closing of the infamous Lollapalooza festival in Chicago. Playing to a home crowd never did anyone any harm and after delivering track after track from his three offerings, Kanye had the crowd paying homage to the ‘lady who drove him to Chicago when he was only three’…his late Momma. While on the NY leg of the Rock the Bells event out at Jones Beach, crowds were whipped into a frenzy as artist after artist hit the stage delivering classic after classic. Slick Rick, MOP, ATCQ, DJ Premier, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Busta Rhymes were all in attendance plus a whole lot more. But what really got the crowd going was when Jay Z appeared on stage to accompany Nas for Black Republicans. Good times to be had by all, what Summer is all about really.
In a recent interview with Billboard Magazine, T-Pain has released some info on his third solo album, Thr33 Ringz. The album is a followup to Epiphany, and comes in the same year as even more of Pain’s hits like “Got Money,” “Cash Flow” and “Silver & Gold,” among others. T-Pain has been a one-stop chart-topping machine, as he’s produced and has been featured on dozens of hits over the past few years for various artists. For his new album, Pain enlisted Ludacris on a track called “Chopped & Screwed,” Kanye West on “Therapy” and Lil’ Wayne on “Can’t Believe It.” By joining with the hottest artists out right now, Thr33 Ringz is set to be an absolute circus, equipped with vocoders and plenty of crooning for the ladies. Check out the album in September when it is released on Jive Records.
After just a few months of enjoying some relative limelight, Wale has hopped on the fashion bandwagon that Pharrell and Kanye West started years ago. With Pharrell and Kanye being the unofficial Louis Vuitton, Gucci and high-fashion spokesmen, Wale has become the face of established urban clothing lines like Levi’s and LRG. It seems as though Wale’s fan-base is spreading beyond just bloggers and hipster-hoppers, and Levi’s and LRG feel that Wale can be a fresh, new face for their ad campaigns. Check out the ads and Wale’s street anthem “Nike Boots” available for download below. Wale – “Nike Boots”

According to Rolling Stone, Kanye West is the biggest money maker in Hip-Hop this year when it comes to touring. The Chicago MC has amassed over $31.6 million while out on the road this year, ranking him fourth in the top ten Rock and Pop Tours. The only other urban tour to earn a mention is Jay Z and Mary J Blige who came in just behind West with $30.7 million. The list is pretty much dominated by rock acts including Van Halen, Bruce Springsteen, The Police and Bon Jovi who top the lists. The Mid year report also indicated that CD sales have also declined 16.3% so far this year. However Lil Wayne is holding onto the most sales for the year so far with his album The Carter III.
Kanye West’s label, GOOD Music, is made up of several of his cohorts and longtime collaborators like Consequence, John Legend, Common, Really Doe and GLC. So, to piggyback off of Ye’s current supersonic fame, the GOOD Music fellas came with a hot song and a video to match. The song, entitled “Disperse,” is Consequence’s track and features GLC and Really Doe. Consequence is of course Q-Tip’s cousin, and is also a decent rapper and is putting in work to live up to the family name. Check out the video link below and keep your eyes peeled for appearances by Pharrell, Chad Hugo, ‘Ye, Lupe and Fam-Lay. Director Rik Cordero did a good job on this one. He seems to be everywhere nowadays. Consequence – “Disperse” Video Over at Rik Cordero’s YouTube Channel
Freeway, arguably the only Rocafella soldier who can actually rap (besides Jay, of course), is back. If you recall, Free’s debut album, Philadelphia Freeway, was absolutely amazing. It had guest spots from Jay, Beanie Sigel, Nate Dogg and was produced almost in its entirety by Kanye West and Just Blaze. Free was definitely the first to set himself apart from the other Roc rhymers, and to this day his voice and flow is unlike most artists we’ve heard. For his second album, Free gained a cosign from 50 Cent and his album Free at Last featured guests like Jay, 50, Busta Rhymes and Scarface. Now, less than a year after Free at Last, free is bumping some new sh*t. His new track, aptly titled “Bumping My New Shit.” To check out Free on his A-game, click here to download the track. Check out a preview for the track here.
If you’re unfamiliar with “electrofunk” group Chromeo, you better ask somebody. Chromeo is based out of Canada and is comprised of Dave 1 (phenomenal DJ and brother of DJ A-Trak) and P-Thugg. The two met in Canada, where they were born and raised, and founded what they call the “only successful Arab/Jew partnership since the dawn of human culture.” The duo has recently released their second album, entitled Fancy Footwork on Vice Records, which features singles “Fancy Footwork” and “Momma’s Boy.” I’ve spent quite a bit of time on the group’s MySpace, and though such a place is not always the most credible of sources for an album’s description, theirs is likely the most unique and hilarious I’ve ever read: “Chromeo, the band reborn…the sex, the beats, the dream the suits, the gloves, the laughs, the tears, the past and the future. All rolled up into one big blunt, smoked up through P’s talkbox tube and exhaled into your brain. Enjoy.” Definitely a dope album that you should pick up, and for now, check out the video for “Momma’s Boy.” Oh, and also check out the brand-new Fancy Fancier Footwork, featuring remixes and fresh material from the duo. Well not that the so called crown that Weezy holds is really that credible…greatest rapper alive just doesn’t fit right for the Cash Money die hard. But Weezy needs to be on guard becasue in the UK on Friday night, Kanye West gave possibly one of the best performances of his life at the Global Gathering Festival, where he headlined the UKs annual dance festival. Taking a somewhat humble role in front of the 25,000 crowd, as he performed, Touch the Sky, Diamonds from Sierra Leone, Gold Digger and All Falls Down, Kanye thanked the crowd with “Thank you for joining me tonight on my quest to become the number one artist in the world.” Yeah Kanye is not just looking to be the greatest rapper alive, he is looking a bit further a field than that. And with performances like that and his ego in check (for once) it looks like he could be a serious contender for that role.
