The indie blog darlings of Das Racist have been testing the waters of solo-stardom. Back in January Heems released “Nehru Jackets” on his Greedhead label and now Kool A.D. has dropped his own solo debut 51, via Mishka NYC. The reception for “Nehru Jackets” having been overwhelming positive, expectations run pretty high for the group’s (arguably, but really there’s no argument) better half. 51 features guest spots from Heems, (or Himansu, as I imagine his parents say) and the dudes of Main Attrakionz. It’s also 12 tracks longer than I want to listen to at once, but check out some choice tracks below or hit the link below for the full download.  Props to Mishka on this tape.

Fresh off the release of their critically acclaimed sophomore album, Vodka & Ayahuasca, super-producers The Alchemist and Oh No are back to making mind-altering, dreary, psychedelic hip-hop with their latest EP, The Odditorium. If you’re a fan of Al and Doc No, you won’t be disappointed by this extended play, which features the duo resurrecting Johnny Cash and Jim Morrison and giving them the “Otis” treatment.

To celebrate his birthday, Flint, Michigan MC Jon Connor pays homage to arguably one of the greatest MCs of all-time and fellow Michigan rapper, Eminem, with the latest installment of his “Best In The World Series.” On this Don Cannon-hosted tape Connor reworks many of Em’s classic joints. Clearly Jon has big shoes to fill, but based on the intro alone, he fits them snugly.

The KushedGod returns with his latest FreeEP, Cuz I Felt Like It.  According to DZA, he was inspired by fellow Jet Life member, Young Roddy, who dropped his debut mixtape over the weekend.  The tape features DZA going in over familiar instrumentals such as Action Bronson and Riff Raff’s “Bird on a Wire,” Schoolboy Q’s “Hands on the Wheel” and Azealia Banks’ “212.”  Apparently the cover art, minus Smoke DZA, was floating around Tumblr for a minute, but props to DZA for using it because it’s really one of the best covers I’ve seen all year.  If you haven’t already, you need to cop Smoke’s 2011 album, Rolling Stoned.  DZA is currently working on his upcoming album, Rugby Thompson.

Here’s what DZA had to say about Cuz I Felt Like It:

I was on Nah Right on saturday scrolling thru being a fan, trying to see what’s going on in the music world. Young Roddy dropped a tape on sunday and i got inspired and felt like rappin. So i called my engineer mat cody up and told him to come to the trap. I rapped over some of my friends beats plus a few other tunes i thought was cool, hit 2 of my homies from harlem, and put it out for free cuz i felt like it #Rrrright
