Oh boy, Kevin Gates is at it again. The Baton Rogue rapper, who has released a solid amount of quality hip-hop music, is perhaps (and sadly) best known for generating controversy via posting outrageous photos and videos on his personal Instagram account (which you may view here, if you’d like.) And it looks like his latest post is no different.
Recently Gates, who was raised by his grandmother, wanted to share a photo of her as she lay on her deathbed. In the Instagram post Gates’ hand is covering his grandmother’s mouth. “Viewing the body of the woman I called my mama before my show, I’m a miss you I love you forever R.I.P.,” he wrote as the caption.
As you can imagine the photo has left many fans stunned and speechless. But that hasn’t stopped them from chiming in and commenting, leaving their thoughts on his page. Some of his fans have even gone as far as accusing Gates of trying to show off his huge watch, while others felt that it was inappropriate to show his deceased grandmother on Instagram. One Instagram user wrote, “This isn’t appropriate for Instagram. Visiting her body is personal and should be private, not used to get attention. RIP.”
But Gates quickly retorted, posting a video explaining why he posted the photo and the specifics behind why he has his hand covering her mouth. Apparently, the rapper was hiding her broken jaw, which she suffered when they put her in a body bag.

Waka Flocka Flame’s “disgust” over the actions displayed in Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s (SAE) viral clip has prompted the rapper to cancel his April concert at the University of Oklahoma. In addition to Waka responding to SAE’s offensive behavior earlier this week via an Instagram post, he appeared in an interview with CNN’s Brianna Keilar on Tuesday to share more of his thoughts.
“My initial reaction when I seen the video, I was more like hurt. More like disgusted, because I knew those kids, I performed for those kids,” the Atlanta rapper said in reference to a 2014 concert at the university. “They made me feel like a brother. Just to see what a person does behind closed doors was more disgusting than hurting. I wasn’t angry, I was just disgusted.”

Kanye West stopped by Power 105.1’s Breakfast Club for an hour long interview. During his hour long sit down with the Breakfast Club crew Kanye discussed his Grammy incident and divulged some pretty juicy details regarding his currently untitled Yeezus followup. According to Kanye himself, the album is about 80% complete and will comprise of “bars, songs, [and] cookout music that just feels good”. He explained, “My last album was a protest to music, I was like ‘I’m gonna take my ball and go home’…This album is embracing the music, joy. Being of service to the people. I just hope people like it and enjoy it.”
But, in typical Kanye fashion, he didn’t confirm a release date. In fact, ‘Ye is completely over release dates and plans to drop the album as a surprise a la Beyonce and Drake. While discussing the forthcoming album, Kanye also touched on the track “Wolves” featuring Vic Mensa and Sia, which he premiered during his adidas fashion show. Apparently the track came from a Drake collaboration which, sadly, fell through. “The song came from a conversation me and Drake had where we were supposed to do an album together—it was supposed to be called Wolves…we said we was gonna do it, he was sending beats back and forth,” said ‘Ye of “Wolves.” “I got this one record with Young Thug that I’m gonna put on the Rihanna album…It might happen because I threw that out there, but he [Young Thug] probably be mad that I mention it on your show because he dislike y’all so much.”
